13 QR-Code Usability Guidelines

QR codes are a tool that can be used to seamlessly connect the physical and digital worlds. However, in order for QR codes to be effective, they need to provide clear, brief, and contextual information. Simply presenting a QR code without any additional information is not enticing or trustworthy to users. To make QR codes more user-friendly, designers should include contextual information such as a short URL or label that indicates where the code will lead. Additionally, using company branding or logos alone is not enough to provide sufficient context. By following these guidelines, QR codes can be more effective in encouraging users to take action.
