Learn Accessibility!

  • All articles
  • All modules have now been published.

The Learn Accessibility course, written by Carie Fisher, covers the essentials for building accessible websites and web apps. The final modules on testing walk you through automated testing, manual accessibility testing, and assistive technology testing. The last new module teaches how to make forms more accessible, which complements the Learn Forms module.

In addition, there were four community spotlights featuring individuals working on accessibility. Melanie Sumner shared her journey into engineering, accessible design, and Ember.js. Olutimilehin Olushuyi discussed his move from law to web development, building accessible communities, and creating accessible layouts. Albert Kim shared about mental health awareness, building for invisible disabilities, and the COGA Accessibility Community Group. Elisa Bandy talked about her work for Google's internal documentation, prioritizing use cases, and building expertise.

The modules are designed to build expertise in accessibility, but note that some best practices may differ based on the disability being addressed. Feedback is welcomed by opening a GitHub issue with as much information as possible.
