Azure Data Transfer authorized for Azure Government Secret and generally available for critical mission data types
Microsoft's Azure Data Transfer has received authorization for Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 6 (IL6) provisional authorization (PA) and is now available for transferring software artifacts, restricted use data types, and Microsoft 365 documents and images. The service is generally available for transferring between Azure Government to Azure Government Secret and is compliant with National Cross Domain Strategy & Management Office's Raise the Bar requirements. Azure Data Transfer offers a fully automated, cloud-native drag-and-drop experience with content filters and scales according to mission workloads. The service provides hardware enforced one-way transfer and multi-region deployment for high availability and low latency.
Azure Data Transfer's capabilities
Azure Data Transfer is authorized to transfer software artifacts, restricted use data types, and Microsoft 365 documents and images, with the latter available for Private Preview this month and targeting General Availability status by summer 2023. The service is fully automated, cloud-native, and complies with Raise the Bar requirements. It includes cloud-based content filters and scales according to mission workloads. The service offers hardware enforced one-way transfer and multi-region deployment for high availability and low latency.
Support for mission owners
The Azure Data Transfer team is ready to assist mission owners in completing the necessary documentation to comply with government requirements and ensure mission requirements are met. The service's portal also documents customer authorization to meet security and audit requirements.
Future capabilities
Microsoft has a roadmap of additional capabilities for Azure Data Transfer, including different domain pairings and the transfer of additional file types, designed to meet mission demands.
